Sad times....

Jay, it's not the money element, really. It's the fact it'll be a waste of money if it's the end. I'm all for paying for nostalgia, but I'd rather put the cash into some other games, and hope to see you all playing.

Sad times indeed Robin...

I'd be happy to chip in, but as others have said, it's probably just putting off the inevitable. Unless GTSport is a revelation and we all find we have the time (and energy lol) to really spend on keeping the site active, then it'll be party chat where we "meet". Shame though, as I do pop in every day, admittedly not posting much though

The time has come for server payments. In just over a month, a renewal will be needed to cover the next few years, this isn't cheap.

PM me the figure, I'll see what I can do Dave.

Be nice to hold the shutters up at least until another GT release.

Be nice to see GT Sport influence on the forum so if it's able to get to that point fantastic! If not I can understand as I for one have not be the most active member.

Will, my thoughts exactly.

Problem I think is not knowing what to talk about, we had a common and vibrant interest in GT5 and GT6 for a good while, but since that period has ended, it is difficult to know what else to post about.

Since we still have some time to wait for GT's next installment, I will try starting up a few more topics.
Let me know if they are too weird

Perhaps that is why I'm probably the best person to fund the next period, I'm a really poor gamer.

I hardly ever buy games, and those I do often get only a cursory play and then gather dust.
Apart from certain franchises, Uncharted, Assasin's Creed, Tombraider, (Ratchet and Clank) plus a few others.

Oh and I hate online games, GT being the exception. I'm really an antisocial old git  :chill:

Just spent the last hour or so reading every post in this topic.

So, where is everyone then, besides facebook that is?

Ok, I'll admit it... I might now be on Facebook  :)
But I haven't got a clue about why or what I'm supposed to be doing with it.

Well perhaps I do know, I'm not thick,  just not interested in doing the "social networking" thing.
Never have been, probably never will.

I've got zero interest in being "liked" or how many "friends" I get, not really that keen to post anything either.

Only created an account because I keep getting  calling cards left on the Subaru from the Essex Subaru Owners Club,
with a message on the back saying "Meet us on Facebook".
Went onto their facebook page and it looks more dead than in here  :nope:

Pity, I was going to post on there "Please stop leaving cards on my car"

Dekka,

I am totally with you, 100%

I hate facebook. I nearly closed down my account because I felt I wasn't "doing the right thing." But I had to admit that I do use it for keeping in touch with my close family, from time to time.

I've even got a twitter account, but I hardly ever use it. It came in handy a couple of times to get some kind of response from my broadband provider and a couple of other things like that, but that's it really.

I much prefer forums... Always have,

I had a look at that Apex Online Racing last night. I see that a couple of the guys from here are active over there. Jan, Andy, Hayc, Matt, Tidge, all appear to be playing Project cars on PS4. I almost registered there just to say "hi" but changed my mind. I'll keep on hanging here, see what happens when the next GT game comes out.

cheers

andy

Let us know how you get on at AOR Andy. If they're friendly etc. I got put off as it looked like you had to be active all the time, and I'm just not able at the moment. (Well apart from my first online home.....)

It is so busy over at AOR, with most peeps, understandably so, focused on their game or league. Someone finally got round to replying to my "introduction" thread, which was nice. Jan dropped in there to say hi and hayc spotted I had replied to another topic.

It's slow getting your feet under the table because of that, plus I have been out of the loop for so long.

AOR won't suit everyone, for sure, and I would never abandon this place to pitch up full time there. In fact I'm sure I could be active enough both here and there.

One thing though, R3E is not catered for there. As you have probably noticed.

I will keep you posted :)

I've got the big 3 social network jobbies, not a big Facebook poster, I'm more of a browser, don't really do Twitter although I've noticed quite a few of the guys are active on it, Instagram's my bag.
I've got an account over on AOR but I didn't like it if I'm honest

AOR is a very large community Neil, so I understand your sentiment.

What I always enjoyed about the RoninGT community was its close, tight knit feel, with a relatively small member size (perhaps I should have said "small number of member" instead there LOL). I always prefer that to trying to fit into a larger and well established community. And I think I can say the same for real life communities too... I'm not one for large parties (or parties at all now that I come to think of it haha).

Just a heads up, Ronin is going down for some maintenance, nothing major just some build updates and security stuff, shouldn't take long and shouldn't affect anything... Hopefully....

This is not going to be for the all new, all singing all dancing version of SMF, not sure they'll ever finish that to be honest, the RC (Release candidate is still stuck at 66% complete and has been since 2015).

Quick and painless hopefully.

Maintenance over, all updated.

Carry on!
