 If anyone is interested, I started a beta site last year to test the latest SMF package before updating Ronin proper, there is a forum that needs populating if you guys want to stick together without going to AOR or GroupMe.

It's only temporary and not much to look at right now but Rory, Robin and I have some plans for something better. Hope to see some of you register.

What? Don't be daft. You've known about RGTbeta since I started it, your signed up there. The so called "scheming" started after you announced you were closing Ronin, we spoke about it on Saturday and decided to try and do something about it to keep Ronin going and try and make it relevant again.
I have no control over what Robin does on Ronin but I still play ETS2 and World of Warships with him and Rory. If you check Robins account though, you'll see he was on Ronin yesterday.

If you have a problem with me giving people an alternative, PM me, doing it the public forum has never been the way we've done things.

Im talking about grouping together, working out plans for this place, and NOT INVOLVING ME. Sure, I was thinking of winding it up, allowing it to just be if people still wanted it. But since my announcement you've gone behind my back... then had the feckin cheek to ask about having the paid for server and domains... how do you think I'd react to that? Oh yeah dave sure, have the site, and do whatever the hell you want with the name. Create some video review money making site... cos thats exactly what Ronin has been about... not.

I approached you about the domain and server and told you exactly what I had ideas to do, I didn't even have to do that because you had already made it clear that you wanted out and were perfectly happy with moving on to AOR and GroupMe.

Not everyone is happy doing that. Several people have made that clear and all you've done is said "nah, this place is dead, AOR and GroupMe are better"

In less than a week you've killed this place for good and now airing all this... great end to things, well done.

Where? Ill reinstate all of the boards if you want to show me? No one apart from you has come to me in the last few weeks and has told me this is a mistake. Everyone has said it will be a shame to lose this. And yes, it is a shame. But for months and months we have tried to keep this place alive. Visiting briefly and not posting a thing does not count as using the forum.

I've never said I'm disillusioned with you or the way you've ran Ronin, I said I think closing Ronin is a mistake. Not sure where your getting 6 months from either, I've been posting in the R3E section because that's what's been relevant to me.
I know the amount of work that's gone into this place from most of the backroom staff and I'm disputing that but from what I understood from your announcement was that you were done with Ronin, check the PM I sent you about the ownership of Ronin, you'll see that was the friday before I spoke to anyone else.

All I want is to see Ronin continue and move forward.

Jan has just said he won't be moving to GroupMe or AOR
JayT  also said he wasn't happy with Ronin coming to a close.

SMF 2.1 would have bought better mobile compatibility and notifications but it's still in beta and has been for the last 2 years with no end in sight (much like most of todays game titles haha).
We as the admin and key members didn't do enough to advertise Ronin and we were too niched, we could still open this place up, get advertising on social media, move cross platform and push none gaming topics such as fitness too.

I'll open my own site to do the video hosting etc, we've never needed the Ronin name to do that, it would have been nice but wasn't something set in stone, just an idea.

There is still time left on the server to turn things around here.

Yes... That's half the problem here. People only posting in things thats relevant to them. A forum can only survive like that with a memberbase reaching the 1000s.

The server runs out on the 18th September this year.

If people want the forum to carry on beyond this point... they had better let me know... and I'm not talking about 2-3 people.

Just so everyone knows threads and boards are hidden, and the forum is no longer public. So we have a clean slate here. What do people want to do with it?

(For now, the only thread we need is this one.)

Hey Dooodes...

Lets just take a minute here....Andy has basically put his soul into this place, so we have to understand that losing it or even winding it up would be frustrating and that some of the things said in this thread would be influenced by that frustration.  It has been a weird place for a while now, not just since Pcars, racing dropped off before that and so did forum activity.

There's no point in pointing any fingers, people lead lives, that coupled with a lack of activity took it's toll on this place.  To the point where we were running full blown series for less than 8 people.  if that figure were to increase and forum activity were to increase before the servers timeout, it would be worth keeping it it alive imo.

I tried very hard to ignore Whatsapp and eventually deleted it but it meant I missed stuff cause peeps weren't using the forum, so I had to give in and start using GroupMe. I'd happily delete that too if everyone started using the forum.

Just because some of us have started racing and using the AOR forum, doesn't mean suddenly that Ronin in Dead, far from it.  What's wrong with meeting new dudes anyway.  We needed more people, they weren't about to come to us. Some did following the great Priano (whatever) and what happened.

I don't think Dave would have mean't to piss you off Andy. Robin, Rory and Dave have been hanging out on PC it's a shame they weren't posting here and staying involved and I'm sure what Dave is proposing is not a take over plan (Was it Dave?) just an idea to save the place.

That said Dave, its Andy's right to keep the place or drop it if he wants. 

It's massive shame of course, and maybe GT7 will kick things off again.  maybe use the time left on the server to Dev your idea in the beta Dave, see what happens. If over the same period we have an active forum, then great.

I like the guys I've met at AOR so far, and it's active, but you have platform pockets so there are mini communities within the whole forum. And there will still nights when we all race together..Sometimes thing must change, we move on, but we are all friends here...aren't we.

 You guys on the PS4 have video sharing capabilities right? Rory has some good and accidentally funny videos I know he wouldn't mind posting. I have some dull videos I can post too, so if you guys are happy to post some clips from what your doing on PS4, a video thread would be good.

Robin and I play ETS2mp, I can stream that, it's not as dull as it sounds, I promise... just watch out for dodgy singing.,

A pCars cross platform TT could work, Mach was kind enough to share his steam account with me and I know Rory has it too on PC. I spoke to Mach about setting one up last year but got snowed under with R3E testing, life and a general lack of motivation so never got around to it, that was my fault.

A discussion for how we want to move things forward could be useful?

It wasn't so much a take over plan as it was, I thought Andy was done and didn't want to see Ronin go, I understand why it annoyed him looking at it from his point of view, especially with the idea of trying to make money out of it but that wasn't the main goal although given the time I believe that would have to go into achieving our ideas, it would have been very welcome.

Things got way out of hand here, I'd like to apologize for my part in that, for the past 6 and a half years, I've considered Andy family, that hasn't changed.

Maybe we could get our heads together, find a new forum builder with better mobile application and find a way to bring Ronin back from the brink? Who knows, maybe you could bring some of the AOR crowd here?

The SMF 2.1 works well on mobile but, is still in beta so may be glitchy and it doesn't support the current theme used by Ronin. If Andy is OK with me looking for ways around that, I'll crack on.

Does anyone have any ideas for a pCars TT?
Has anyone revived the green hell TT?
