I knew there was a reason I've been holding off buying a PS4.

If this is true, I hope for Sony's sake, they have a plan to make adopters of the normal PS4 happy, a free upgrade perhaps or at least, a heavily discounted upgrade.

It won't be 4k gaming. They wouldn't be able to do it with 4k and a good fps at a reasonable price. So I'm highly unbothered either way

There's a lot of talk coming from developers and AMD that their upcoming CPU/GPU and APUs built on the 14nm FinFETT process is something particularly special and that their focus has been all about 4K resolution. The PS4 already uses an 28nm APU from AMD, would make sense that if they did do a PS4.5, it'd be based on their next-gen 14nm FinFETT APU, it's not just half the numbers (28-14), as a rule, it's twice the performance because you can fit twice as many transistors on the same size die, theoretically, on a machine as optimized as a console, it could be possible...

Would be a hell of an accomplishment.

To play in 4K yes, just to play? No.

On a side note, I'm potentially getting a 4K TV in a couple of months, prices have really come down recently. 50" for
